OVERVIEW

UBC's Student Strategic Plan represents the university's commitment to foster an unparalleled student experience. It guides their efforts to ensure that every student at UBC has access and thrives in all aspects of their lives at the university and beyond.

After 2 years of successful implementation, UBC asked Becoming to produce a report and associated digital campaign to share these successes publicly. In addition, the campaign is designed to further engage students and make them aware of the programs and support available to them at the university.

Project

Brand Expansion

OVERVIEW

BC Parks worked with Becoming to define and add clarity to their visual brand. As a public trust, BC Parks’ mission is to protect representative and special natural places within the province’s Protected Areas System for world-class conservation, outdoor recreation, education and scientific study.

We began with a complete brand audit and review with key stakeholders throughout the BC Parks organization. The result of this audit was an updated brand position and statement. We updated and created consistency in logo assets, updated colours, typography, image use, illustration use and wrote a comprehensive brand guide to outline usage rules for all of these touch points.

OVERVIEW

The Pacific Institute on Pathogens, Pandemics and Society (PIPPS) is a new interdisciplinary research institute focused on strengthening British Columbia’s capability to prevent, prepare for and respond to major infectious disease events, including the current global COVID-19 pandemic.

Becoming worked closely with PIPPS Directors to create a brand which would communicate to an entire province and have a design system with high enough utility to cover the range of communications required by the institute.

Brand Identity

OVERVIEW

Lyter is a brand new company with an innovative idea to simply build a better lighter with a significantly lower environmental footprint. We worked with the Lyter team to build a unique and ownable brand identity which would resonate with their consumer group and communicate the values of this new, category-disrupting brand.


The result is a high impact brand with an engaging and newsworthy tone of voice and brand toolkit. The brand speaks from a position of ‘why we can do better’. It is supported by an organized messaging system which communicates the three main channels: Environment, Fire (a better flame), and Innovation.

OVERVIEW

Hoyne asked us to create the branded system for their Bier Garten series of German inspired beers (biers). With a strong focus on authenticity and tradition, the series introduces a custom wordmark, a branded crest and colour system to set every beer in the series apart, while keeping that big happy German family feel!
